This page contains information on submitting proposals for TAO 6.5 m telescope.

General Information

Eligibility

Researchers who meet at least one of the following conditions can submit a proposal as a principal investigator (PI).

  • Those who belong to Japanese institutes

  • Those who have Japanese citizenship

Researchers who do not meet any of these conditions can join a proposal as a co-investigator (coI). Note that the number of such international coIs is limited to two per proposal.

Proposal Types

  • Normal: a program that should be completed with <= 3 nights

  • Student: a program that can be submitted only by a student PI. Observing time is limited to <= 1 night. Duplication with a normal proposal is allowed.

Proposal Review and Time Allocation

All proposals will be reviewed by multiple science reviewer in a dual anonymous way.

Based on the results of scientific and technical reviews and observatory’s schedule, Time Allocation Committee will select proposals to be executed in each semester. The time allocation will be in a classical way; no dynamic or queue observations.
